Liberty is called a
Baptist Church by choice because the
Baptists in general have adhered to the
important doctrines that many so called
Christian groups have discarded. They have
discarded them as old fashioned, unimportant, or
they have superceded some with edicts and
directives from a church hierarchy. Why has this
happened that our churches have neglected the
truth of the Word of God? Because Satan has set
his sights to destroy God, His Word, and His
authority. He started in the garden of Eden
questioning the Word of God. There he asked Eve
"Yea, hath God said". The devils'
motto is inch by inch it's a cinch. So He
attacks the word of God in numerous ways.
Proposition: Do you want the best most
accurate Word of God you can find or are you
willing to take a less accurate account because
you think you can understand it a little better.
PRAY then READ Matthew 15:1-9
We Stand on the Word of
God
A. We
stand on it's Authority for directing our lives.
God tells us to take heed to what it says.
2 Peter 1:19&21 to take heed means to pay
attention to and obey because it is the Word of God.
19We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye
do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that
shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day
star arise in your hearts: 21For the prophecy came not
in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God
spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
B. We stand on all the Word of
God being relevant to our lives.
2 Tim. 3:15-17 And that from a child thou hast
known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee
wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ
Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of
God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished
unto all good works.
The Lord said before He was crucified that if you loved
Him you would keep His commandments - (ALL OF THEM).
C. We stand on the inerrancy
and infallibility of the Word of God.
The original manuscripts were the very Word's of God
dictated to and penned by Godly men and He is perfect
therefore He didn't make any mistakes in giving His word
to man.
D. We
stand on the promise that God has told us He would
preserve His word.
Ps. 33:11
"The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the
thoughts of his heart to all generations."
Ps. 100:5 "For the Lord is good; his mercy
is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all
generations."
Ps. 111:7-8"The works of his hands are
verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure. They
stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and
uprightness."
Ps. 117:2 "... the truth of the Lord
endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord."
Ps. 119:89 "For ever, O Lord, thy word is
settled in heaven."
Ps. 119:152 "Concerning thy testimonies, I
have known of old that thou hast founded them for
ever."
Ps. 119:160 "Thy word is true from the
beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments
endureth for ever."
Is. 40:8 "The grass withereth, the flower
fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for
ever."
Is. 59:21"As for me, this is my covenant
with them, saith the Lord; My spirit that is upon thee,
and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not
depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy
seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the
Lord, from henceforth and for ever."
Mt. 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till
heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no
wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."
Mt. 24:35"Heaven and earth shall pass away,
but my words shall not pass away."
1 Pe. 1:23"Being born again, not of
corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of
God which liveth and abideth forever."
1 Pe. 1:25 "But the word of the Lord
endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the
gospel is preached unto you."
Re. 22:18-19 "For I testify unto every man
that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If
any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto
him the plagues that are written in this book: And if
any man shall take away from the words of the book of
this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the
book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the
things which are written in this book."
1. It stands to
reason that if God promised to keep His Word for all
generations He would keep and maintain inerrant and
accurate copies of it although they are not the original
manuscripts. If some believed them to be the originals,
they would turn to worship them.
2. I believe it is
reasonable to believe He has preserved His word in
the original languages He originally had it written
(Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek).
3. I believe that the
Traditional Masoretic Hebrew Text for the Old
Testament and the Traditional Received Greek text for
the New Testament are the closest to the original
manuscripts and are the preserved Word of God that He
has promised to preserve.
4. I also believe
there are some so called excellent manuscripts that
contain errors because God said there were false
teachers and I believe have tainted some manuscripts.
E.
We stand on the KJV as being the best translation
available.
We also believe the King James Version of the Bible is
the best translation to use because of the following
reasons.
1. It is translated from the best and most
accurate original language manuscripts of the
Traditional Masoretic Hebrew Text for the Old Testament
and the Traditional Received Greek text for the New
Testament.
2. The evidence of inconsistency in a few
manuscripts indicate to me that some are tainted with
error and they should be avoided.
3. Would you agree that there are false prophets
and false teachers that the church was warned of during
the writing of the NT. They were already on the scene.
Romans 16:17-18 17 Now I beseech you,
brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary
to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid
them. 18For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus
Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair
speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Ephes. 4:14 That we henceforth be no more
children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with
every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and
cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Col. 2:4 And this I say, lest any man
should beguile you with enticing words.
4. If
Satan would send into the churches false teachers
who would mix false doctrine with the real Word of God
just like Satan did with Eve, doesn't it stand to reason
that he would also try and pollute the written Word of
God as well.
5. We believe the KJV
is a translation not a paraphrase or commentary.
Some people say they like a particular version because
they say it's more readable. By the "Flesch Grade
Level" the readability level of the KJV is from 6.1
to 8.6. The NIV, on the other hand, has a "Flesch
Grade Level" of from 6.1 to 11.0!!
6. We use the KJV
here at Liberty, even though the writing of it was
not inspired because we believe it contains the best
translation from the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek works
that were from inspired texts.
Hebrew Texts
The Traditional Masoretic Hebrew Text is also called the
the true text of Ben Chayyim, or Daniel Bomberg edition
or the Second Great Rabbinic Bible (1524-25) or it is
the Letteris text, printed in 1866.
This Ben Chayyim Masoretic Hebrew text was the
unquestioned Hebrew text for the next 400 years from
1500. Nobody questioned it.
The new inferior Hebrew manuscripts called Biblia
Hebraica (BHK & BHS) Hebrew texts offer in their
footnotes about fifteen to twenty suggested changes per
page.
This adds up to about 20,000 to 30,000 changes in the
entire Hebrew Old Testament text.
One or the other of these false Hebrew texts, either BHK
or BHS, are used as the basis for the O.T. in all modern
versions, as can be seen by reading their introductory
pages.
How many of these changes in the Hebrew text are you
ready to accept? Do you want to accept 30,000? How about
20,000? 10,000? How about 5,000? How about 1,000? How
many of you would like to accept 500 changes?
Greek Texts
There are two divisions of Greek texts available to
translators today, the TR & WH
Though there was some scattered opposition to the TR or
Received Text in years before, the concerted effort
against the Received Text came in 1881, and after. In
1881, two theological heretics (posing as conservatives)
from the Anglican Church, B.F. Westcott and F.J.A. Hort,
published their Greek text that rejected the TR in 5,604
places. This involved 9,970 Greek words that were either
added, subtracted, or changed from the TR. This
involves, on the average, 15.4 words per page of the
Greek N.T., or a total of 45.9 pages in all. It is 7% of
the total of 140,521 words in the TR Greek N.T.
As you might know, some of the places involve twelve
entire verses (Mk. 16:9-20 and John 7:53--8:11).
There are 5255
manuscripts of the Greek NT.

There are (now 88)
papyrus fragments.
There are 267 uncial manuscripts. These are large,
capital letter documents.
There are 2,764 cursives manuscripts. These are the
flowing hand manuscripts.
There are 2,143 lectionary manuscripts. These are
portions of Scripture that were read on certain days of
the church year.
This totals at least 5,255 Greek manuscripts of the N.T.
that have been preserved and are available for us today.
Conclusion:
Do you want to use the Bible translated from
the majority of manuscripts that I truly believe
contains the most accurate and complete Word of God or
do you want to use one that has serious questions as to
whether or not it is tainted with error just because it
reads better.
Don't misunderstand me!
I'm not saying that some other versions are Satan's lies
and aren't God's Word. I am saying some manuscripts are
at least 93% accurate with the Word of God but the KJV
is closer to 100%.
I believe God preserved
all His Word in the Majority of the RT so I like 100%
better than 93 and as Pastor I'll be held accountable
for what I teach you so I don't want a 7% margin of
error.
