Even
though everyone may not agree with our country's
position on war, we all can agree that our
military people need our help. You Help can by giving
with just a little time and effort. If our military
refuses to do their part we all will suffer and if we
refuse to do our part they will suffer. Here are a few
suggestions.
1.
They need our thanks -
it's hard to do a job and never receive any appreciation
for it from the boss or anyone else. Our military is
working for each one of us. Find someone you can write
to and tell them thanks for serving our country.
2.
They need our respect -
they need to know that we think they, and the jobs they
do, are important to us all. After all, they have
answered the call of our country to protect us and our
freedoms.
3.
They need to know we are concerned about them and
their families that have been left behind.
They need to know we are concerned for their safety, and
that they have good military leaders, good fellow
soldiers and good equipment.
4.
Most of all, they need to know we are praying for them.
They need to be prayed for effectively. How can anyone
pray effectively? First, their heart must be clean of
wrong doing before God, because God says he will not
hear the prayer from someone with an unclean heart.
Psalm 66:18 If I
regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
What is iniquity? It is
disobeying the commands of God. Some commands are
written in our hearts, and some in His word the Holy
Bible. In today's language we can call iniquity as doing
wrong.
What does God say is
doing wrong? Some common wrongs to God are listed in
Exodus 20. They start off; thou shalt not have any gods
before Him, honor thy father and mother, Thou shalt not
bear false witness (lie), Thou shalt not covet (desire
things others have ), thou shalt not commit adultery.
God tells us doing wrong
separates us from Him.
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated
between you and your God, and your sins have
hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Because God is holy, He
cannot ignore, excuse, or tolerate sin (doing wrong,
disobeying His rules) as if it doesn't matter. Wrong
doing cuts people off from Him, forming a wall that
isolates God from the people he loves. That makes it
real clear that God says that he cannot hear anyone
praying to him who does not have a clean heart. That
brings us to the important question of whether or not
God considers your heart clean. Does He? What do you
think by what His word has just told us? He tells us in
his word the Holy Bible what we must do to have a clean
heart.
1. Believe that He is
holy and cannot have sin in His presence.
People who die with their sin unforgiven separate
themselves eternally from God.
Proverbs 15:29 The Lord is far from the wicked: but
he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
Romans 6:23 The wages(consequences)of sin is death
(Eternal Separation from God), but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
2. Believe that God
loves you and wants you to be with him for all
eternity. He wants you to come to heaven when you leave
this life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave
his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
3. Believe that God
took care of our offenses (disobedience) toward Himself
by allowing His Son Jesus Christ to take our sins upon
Himself and die, Suffering death, the separation from
God, for us, so we can have eternal life.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the
gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
Life saving belief is
more than just knowing something in your head. Life
saving belief is being sure in your heart that God's
word is true; That it is true about His holiness, His
love for us, our sinfulness and Jesus taking the wages
(punishment) for our wrong doings (sins) so that we can
be with God when we do die. If you have never received
God's gift of salvation will you receive it by believing
in your heart that He is holy and you are unholy, and
believe you deserve the results of your wrong doing but
also believe Jesus took your sins and their punishment
and died for you. Why not ask him to forgive you for
your sins and tell him thanks that Jesus died for you.
If you do this you are clean before God and he says he
will hear your prayers for our military.
Certainly you'll want to
send this information or write the church for some
information to send to your military friends because
they need God's salvation right now. You can meet their
greatest need by telling them how they can go to heaven
and be with God now before it's too late. Your other
friends might like to know how they can be sure their
prayers are being heard by God, so tell them what God
says. We really can help our military with these simple
steps.
